Easter is an amazing time to stay. Enjoy the farm with the new arrivals and lambs to be bottle-fed 4 times a day!. Easter activities, egg hunts and trails including competitions for the grown ups with lots of chocolate treats! and of course our very own 'Big Yellow' who makes several special appearances over the school holidays much to the delight and amusement of children and adults alike providing an Easter break to cherish forever.

Bat Walks on the Farm

Come and join us on our very own bat walk around the farm.  Learn about these little winged marvels and get to listen to their calls with our bat detector

Exmoor benefits from 16 of the 18 UK bat species (some of which have made their home at North Hayne Farm!) and therefore provide us with a fabulous opportunity to educate and inform our 'mini rangers' and grown ups who come here on holiday.

Our bat walks run from May until October (during school holiday periods ) starting at about an hour before dusk.  With activity packs provided and an informative talk beforehand the whole family can venture out and experience the world of bats.

So wrap up warm, pop on your boots and join us for a fascinating evening learning about these amazing creatues. For further details please contact us.

To learn more about bats why not check out the UK Bat Conservation Trust website.

Halloween fun at the Farm with Witch Grizelda

October half term gets very exciting as all of our guest are given the chance to enter our free pumpkin carving competition and meet Witch Grizelda

Each cottage is given a pumpkin and asked to make it as scary as they can ready for judging by Grizelda the Witch. Grizelda has to try very hard not to eat any of the tasty children before she has chosen the second and first prize pumpkins. It's never an easy decision for Grizelda as all entries are absolutely fantastic but decide she does and she awards the two winning pumpkins with a prize each.

As everyone tries really hard we always give all the children a bag of sweets... well Grizelda doesn't like children to be sour now does she?

Trick and Treats around the courtyard, Halloween trails and spooky walks all add to a fabulous Half Term break

Bonfire night at the Farm

An opportunity to enjoy a traditional time of year and create wonderful memories to cherish with your children

Bonfire night at North Hayne Farm has become a special weekend event in our diary. Every year all of the children start off by helping to make the Guy, including making sticks of dynamite (pretend ones of course!) to attach to Guy Fawkes.

Later once it's dark, we hold our popular lantern procession up to the bonfire. The anticipation builds as the bonfire is lit and the children wait eagerly for the Guy to meet his ultimate demise.

As we have animals at the farm we only allow sparklers to be used, this has led to the adults becoming very competitive with their creative displays of sparkler writing in the air egged on by the appreciative gazes of our younger guests as they toast their marshmallows by the fire.Anchor

With complimentary mulled wine and food served in the games room, the weekend is a popular event in our calendar.

A magical time of year, our Nativity is just wonderful and a visit from Farmer Christmas is a perfect way to finish Christmas Eve

Christmas breaks are a particularly special time at North Hayne Farm, with tastefully decorated cottages and tree,Christmas lights around the courtyard complete with a large Christmas tree in the centre helping to set a magical scene.

Relax and enjoy your cottage with our complimentary special treats and your hot tub that's ready and waiting! - all you need to do is unwind.

After the usual morning animal feed, enjoy a special activity workshop making reindeer food, come down to the barns at tea time after the evening feed session for a real Christmas Eve 'nativity' with our very own donkeys Abbott and Costello. There'll be plenty of festive fun with carols, home made mince pies and of course mulled wine and a special visit from 'Farmer Christmas' at the end of the evening.

Choose from one of the many local restaurants and good pubs nearby after unwrapping your presents on Christmas day, or pre-order some of our fabulous JackChilli meals to escape the cooking.

End each day by relaxing under the stars in your own private hot tub with a glass of something lovely!

We look forward to wishing you a Merry Christmas. Please contact us for up to date availability.

New Year at North Hayne Farm

New Year fun at North Hayne Farm

Welly Wanging at the farm for some New Years Eve fun and laughter

For something a little bit different why not join us here at the farm for a New Year getaway. In addition to the usual twice daily animal feeds and very popular donkey rides, fill your week with outdoor trails, our popular activity workshops and our own special bit of fun in the form of our "Welly Wanging" competition. With each cottage hurling their own welly in return for a prize (locally sourced and produced!... of course) this is a New Years Eve for ALL the family to enjoy.

Relaxing in your own hot tub under the stars with your glass of Champagne has also surely got to be one of the best ways to see in a New Year?

Come midnight we always like to welcome in the New Year with a very traditional family conga around the Christmas tree, we are always particularly grateful to be joined by anyone that has stayed up too and wants to join in the fun, so feel free to come on down to the courtyard, its always more fun to look silly with friends!

Finally on New Years day, why not explore our quiet country lanes, go hill walking over Exmoor or on one of our stunning North Devon beaches or simply take a walk to the local pub (1.5 miles) complete with roaring fire, to help burn off those Christmas mince pies! Tempted yet?
