One of the most memorable experiences of staying here at North Hayne Farm is our much loved lamb feeding sessions from Spring until early Summer.  Perfect for little ones and animal lovers alike, this hands-on activity gives guests the chance to get up close to our young lambs and help bottle feed them during their stay.

Whether it’s your first time on the farm or a returning regular, lamb feeding offers a unique opportunity to connect with animals, learn about life on the farm, and create special family moments you’ll never forget!

Caring for Our Lambs

Our orphan lambs receive lots of love, care and attention from the moment they arrive on the farm, usually at just 2–3 days old. We look after each lamb, following guidance and best practice from our vets to make sure they are happy, healthy and thriving.

Every lamb cuddle is supervised by Farmer Roger and Farmer Emily, with the lambs wrapped snugly in soft towels so they feel warm, safe and relaxed.

Because the lambs are handled so gently and cared for so closely from such a young age, they quickly become calm and confident around people. This is what makes them so friendly, affectionate and happy to be cuddled - something our guests absolutely love!

As they grow older and no longer need to be bottle fed we take them out for walks know as `lambs on leads` or out on the field for some lamb trekking fun.  This is particularly popular with all our `farmers` and also allows the lambs opportunities to remain sociable.

When is feeding time?

When you check into your cottage, you’ll be given a daily guide with all the animal feeding times throughout the day. When the lambs are small we usually feed them four times a day, however, this will reduce as they get older.  There are always however plenty of opportunities for you and your children to get involved.

Feeding time is always a highlight for little ones, and children are very welcome to gently take part with guidance from Farmer Roger and Farmer Emily. All feeding sessions are supervised, making it a safe and enjoyable experience for the whole family.

It’s a lovely, hands-on part of the day that many families look forward to during their stay.
