  • Lambs at the farm

Our spring lambs are now quite grown up and all with very different characters. They still love being taken out for a walk each evening with tasty treats to keep them on the right track. Walking the lambs is a great opportunity for children to develop confidence with animals that are often as big as they are.

Other new arrivals at the farm are our Chicks, safe and warm under a heat lamp they are great fun to watch and even get to hold.

    New Hens

Now that our battery hens are fully recovered from their original weak condition when they arrived, we decided to move them in with our old girls. This made way for us to bring in some new young hens ready and eager to greet our many families who probably for the first time in their lives get to feed and meet hens.

Back in Spring our ducks started laying eggs as usual, however, this year we noticed our Moscovey's were gathering together all of the eggs in to two nests. Then for just over a month both remained on their eggs keeping them warm and turning them as required.

Keeping a watchful eye on proceeding we were really happy to eventually see three little fluffy yellow ducklings hiding under the wings of their surrogate mothers.

    A Close Shave

Come the summer our sheep and alpacas need a little attention from the Baaabers. Because alpacas are a lot less willing than sheep the process looks a little unusual as you can see from the pictures below.

    Revamped reception with shop

Following the relocation of the games room we have been able to reassign space to create a much needed welcoming reception area with small shop. We are often asked for things like extra dishwash tablets, an extra toilet roll or bin bag, so a shop seemed to be the obvious solution.

We expect to stock only non perishable items but will ask for more ideas from our guests as to what would make your holiday as relaxing as possible.
